| A CD-ROM is a very effective tool for presenting interactive material for use with Mac and PC based computers. A CD-ROM presentation is very similar to a PowerPoint in that it can be designed to work from click commands or run automatically when opened. | |||||||||||||||||||
| It probably best resembles a website, because it works with pages and links but it can be highly stylized to fit your project. Links to websites, PDF files, music, video and flash animations can also be included to give your presentation a more professional look. CD-ROMS are a great way to disseminate large amounts of information to donors, potential students and the university body at large when a web site will not work. | |||||||||||||||||||

| WHAT IS A CD-ROM? | |||||||||||||||||||
| It's a circular disk used to store large amounts of electronic data. CD-ROMs (Compact Disk-Read Only Memory) can hold up to 680 MB of computer data. The media is low cost and durable, and in large scale applications can be inexpensively duplicated into thousands of copies. Unlike optical disks, which can be written to many times, a CD-ROM is read-only. The excerpt shown here is from the Residence Hall CD-ROM we created for the Marketing Department. It included over 25 Virtual Tours and over 20 interviews along with links to various websites and text only pages. |
