WHAT ARE WEBSITES?

A website is a collection of digital pages that are built on an HTML foundation and located on the Internet by inputting a unique address that provides information on a subject, person or organization.

Each website contains a homepage, which is the first document users see when they enter the site. The site might also contain additional documents and files. These files usually contain textual or graphical "links" that can be clicked using an input device such as a mouse to move to other files, either within the site or another location. Each site is owned and managed by an individual, company, or organization.

The site you are currently on is an example of an HTML based website. There are Flash driven sites and sites that are database driven. We specialize in HTML sites.

Click on the TV icon to the left to be routed to a database driven site, containing hundreds of photos, video, audio and text clips. It is the website for the Detroit African American History Project (DAAHP), created in collaboration with the Walter P. Reuther Library.
